A few weeks back I decided on a photo-shoot to showcase my new vintage inspired- Hollywood, Glamour collection. My my current website images have served me well over the past three years, but are now looking a little tired and also needed updating. I knew straight away who would be perfect for the job so I didn’t hesitate, I contacted Jenny & Keith McAvoy right away to book me in! I had worked with the McAvoys last summer, on their Hollywood Vogue shoot, I wanted similar theme, but with some contemporary looks thrown in.
Well…I needed some beautiful dresses to do my designs justice, so I contacted my friend the lovely Debbie from Glamour Bridal, in Bolton, who kindly opened her shop especially for myself and Tina to choose from her gorgeous collection, I think Tina quite enjoyed playing dressing up, she always has done! We narrowed it down to six of Debbie’s gorgeous gowns and Debbie arranged for me to pick them up from a bridal Fayre the day before the shoot.
Jenny was brilliant, she organised the whole thing from beginning to end, I sent her photos of the dresses and she created inspiration boards with different poses, hairs styles and make-up looks. Jenny contacted Laura Myers for her hair and make up skills and also arranged the venue, we chose the wonderful West Tower in Ormskirk, I had never been, but I trusted Jenny she knew the venue well and it turned out to be just perfect.
My gorgeous niece Tina always models for me, so I am very lucky to have her in the family. I also wanted a dark haired model as a contrast and the beautiful Natalie fit the bill perfectly.
The first set of images were taken in the bright and airy ballroom of West Tower
These photos were taken in the luxurious super glam master suite in West tower

My Favourite room of them all, I loved the velvety chocolate tiles on the walls

Gorgeous bouquet provided by Cullens of Ashton under Lyne
I love image of the hot pink shrug against the plain wall….
I love this shot with the rich blue sky in the background, very clever.
My favourite image of them all, I absolutely love this, so simply but really affective
- Polka dot tulle Wrapor shrug
We had a lot to get through in one day, over forty designs in total, but Keith and Jenny were so relaxed and a joy to work with. They bounced off one another with different ideas and kept their enthusiasm right up to the end. Most importantly I couldn’t be happier with the finished images, which I received on disc less than a week after the shoot.
With special thanks to:
And last but not least lovely models – Tina and Natalie who both did a wonderful job of tirelessly looking gorgeous;)
I would love your comments on the shoot below, which is your favourite?
