Wedding umbrellas & wellies at the ready!

Wedding umbrellas & wellies at the ready- when wedding weather turns bad!

Ok, I am a Mancunian born and bred…..

Living in a city famous for its rain, I am well used to bad weather, but this summer is really getting beyond the joke!  We have had the odd occasional dry day, you would have had to be really lucky to dodge the rain if you have had your wedding this year.

When a couple choose a summer wedding, the main influence will be the weather.  This summer there will have been so many brides waking up on their wedding day and being greeted with grey skies and the pouring rain.  It may seem like the end of the world, however all is not lost….With a little bit of planning couples can make the most of what nature throws at them and can even make a feature of it……bad weather can look quite cool…..

Ok you have to be prepared…. you wont be jinxing your wedding weather if you buy an umbrella or two,  just look at these gorgeous offerings from Love Umbrellas  My fave umbrellas in the whole wide world!!!, I have bought 3 of these gorgeous creations already, I have yet to own my very own though!  If you are lucky enough to get some sunshine they can double up as a parasol;)

The beautiful bespoke umbrellas can be coordinated with your wedding colours, why not buy one for each of your bridesmaids?  They look fabulous in wedding photos and add a splash of colour rain or shine.

Don’t forget your feet, you don’t want to ruin those gorgeous designer shoes during your photos. Wellies are a quirky way to add a bit of fun to you wedding shots.

Wind really makes veils come alive!!

Then there is the wind!  These beautiful silk veils by Dreamveils really know how to work that windy shot!

Then my favourite of all wedding weather…snow!

My fur and feather shrug and bolero collection really come into their own in the winter.  Luxurious and snuggly they add a wintery touch to your outfit, without covering your dress.

Just in case you have forgotten, this is the sun! Natasha on a beech in Cornwall wearing my corded lace shrug.

You can choose to escape to the sun for your wedding, like Leigh did……

Leigh’s beautiful sunset shot will brighten any gloomy day!

Remember…. it is only July there is time for change yet, surely it cant get any worse! (I say with the rain pounding on my window again…)

I hope this has given you some wedding inspiration and reassurance that a bit of rain, wind or snow wont spoil your day, it can even add to it!

Fantastic blog feature, Kay, some amazing images as well. Just goes to show that when brides adopt the ‘whatever the weather’ approach they still get the magical day to remember. Love the McAvoy image taken outside the Midland, somehow the brollies ‘make’ the image, don’t they? Lynne at Heskin Hall has written a feature about ‘weddings in the rain’ in our latest Little White Books magazine which comes out this week, there’s never been a more relevant subject has there?!
