I love receiving photos from my brides, but after the big event in over its very easy for them to forget to email them in.

As a gentle reminder and a way of thanking those who send in their gorgeous pics, last month we launched our bi-monthly Wrapor Bride photo competition.

Here is our first winner; the beautiful Natasha!  I was blown away by her gorgeous image by the sea in Cornwall and figured after this summer we all needed a little piece of her wedding sunshine!

Natasha contacted me earlier this year and chose a corded lace shrug to go with here beautiful wine coloured wedding dress, we also made her Mum a matching scarf from the same lace, as you can see they look fab together.

For her prize Natasha has chosen a Wrapor from the evening collection; A black bolero with a chiffon overlay. Well done Natasha!

After months of planning, dress rehearsals, anxiety, sleepless nights, excitement and tears. Its every brides dream for the day to be PERFECT!!! and ours was!

 For an early March wedding here in Cornwall, the weather was going to be very unpredictable”, but someone was looking down on us that day, and it was beautiful. I hadn’t slept all night and neither had my hubby to be he told me! so it was an early start, the hairdressers, make-up,the bridesmaids all rallying around to help make my day so special; and not least, mum and dad!! Emotional yes! but so glad for their support.

 My hubby to be was at our home, with the best man, the ushers and ring bearers, all looking stunning in their Cornish tartan kilts, awaiting to attend the church to witness the marriage of myself and Stephen.

I arrived at the church, rather nervous, clutching at my dad’s arm, and one big breath, and here goes, with my three beautiful bridesmaids behind me. I entered the church, and walked down the aisle to our favourite song!!!

There was Stephen waiting for me , full of emotion , as with both sides of the family. The service was something that I shall remember always.

Outside with a cool breeze, the sun was shining, the bells were ringing, and I was finally the happiest person alive. All these months of planning had all come together so perfectly!

We hired a camper van ‘Lola’ from strawberry leisure, as were both avid VW enthusiasts and it was breathtaking) After the photo session, a drink of champagne in the vw camper van “Lola” we made our way to the Carbis Bay Hotel, where we arrived to have more photographs taken, this time on the beach!

No-one would ever think it was early march, it looked like paradise and I felt as though we were in “paradise”!

We sat at the “top table”, to a sumptuous afternoon Cornish cream tea’s and cakes and sandwiches all washed down with some wine and very emotional speeches. With all the thank-you’s done, gifts presented, and flowers to the two tearful mum’s it only left us now to cut the cake, and to enjoy the rest of our special day and evening!

No-one can put into words how anyone could feel on such a momentous occasion, except that I now feel that my life is happy and complete, and I know that Stephen feels that way too!!

 Were now expecting our baby in early January!

 Special thanks to you Kay as I struggled for months to find the right thing to complete my wedding dress and I was so glad to have found Wrapor!

‘I have a tattoo that I want to cover on my wedding day’

Is a request I have heard so many times from my clients. Brides to be, often say they will feel more comfortable with their artwork hidden; some are bothered whether it’s appropriate to show their tattoos in church and are worried what older relations will think.

Other girls are very proud of their artwork and want to put it on full display on their wedding day!

However in my line of business, I find that my brides wish to cover a tattoo’s to feel more comfortable, like the very first Wrapor bride – my lovely friend Kelly!

Kelly had a small tattoo on her shoulder done when she was younger and wanted to cover it on her wedding day; she already had her elegant strapless dress and wanted a little cover up for her shoulders that wouldn’t hide detail on her dress.  After a few attempts the first Wrapor was born…… and she loved it!  Kelly wore it all day and until the end of the evening she almost forgot she was wearing it!

The Wrapor is the perfect tattoo cover up, whether your artwork is on your back upper arm or shoulders, our shrugs and boleros will stay in place effortlessly allowing you to relax and enjoy your day.

Another option you could consider is camouflage make up.  There are various types available, however for best results it should be applied by a professional make-up artist to keep the results looking natural.  Be careful as makeup can rub off onto other peoples clothing including your grooms suit, if it’s not set properly.

Professional make- up artist – the lovely Joyce from Brides and Beauty give this advice:

‘To cover a tattoo I would recommend using a camouflage type of make- up. Make sure the skin is clean and dry before you start the application. Apply the skin primer first and then start applying a pea sized amount of the foundation to the skin with a brush. Use sweeping movements and blend till you have full coverage of the tattoo. Once you have the desired coverage press powder onto the make up to set it. Do a couple of trial runs o make sure you don’t get transfer onto your wedding dress on the day. Camouflage make up should match your skin tone so it doesn’t look fake, good application should blend well with our kin tone. If you’re having a fake tan on your wedding day make sure you choose the correct colour foundation to take that into account. If you’re using a make up artist for your wedding she should be able to cover the tattoo for you’

‘One of the best ones is Cover FX Cream Foundation. It’s available from Harvey Nichols and House of Fraser in the UK. With an RRP of £37.00 this cream is great to conceal any tattoo. It comes in a full range of skin tones too. When applied correctly the coverage should last all day and no-one will know you have a tattoo underneath.’

As you can see from the fabulous images on the blog, colourful artwork can look really great in wedding photos and brides can look fantastic inked in a dress!

You can even choose to have your wedding rings tattooed on!  There would be no danger of loosing them then!

You could of course choose to have the best of both worlds and wear your Wrapor shrug or bolero during the day then reveal your tattoos for all to see in the evening.  Whatever you choose just remember to relax, be proud and enjoy every minute!

Ok, I am a Mancunian born and bred…..

Living in a city famous for its rain, I am well used to bad weather, but this summer is really getting beyond the joke!  We have had the odd occasional dry day, you would have had to be really lucky to dodge the rain if you have had your wedding this year.

When a couple choose a summer wedding, the main influence will be the weather.  This summer there will have been so many brides waking up on their wedding day and being greeted with grey skies and the pouring rain.  It may seem like the end of the world, however all is not lost….With a little bit of planning couples can make the most of what nature throws at them and can even make a feature of it……bad weather can look quite cool…..

 All over lace Shrugs & Boleros

This pale ivory all over lace is a more delicate and is smoother than our corded lace, it has an all over pattern rather than individual motifs or flower patterns.  Can be made in the shrug or the bolero style Wrapor with a scalloped edge or with a simple plain edge.  This design is perfect for adding interest to a simpler style of dress. Swarovski crystals can be added to the pattern for a touch of sparkle.

Vintage Style Corded lace

This ivory lace has a real vintage look and feel. The heavy cording pattern is laid on top of the delicate sheer tulle, so the pattern really stands out. This luxurious fabric can be made up as a bolero or the original shrug style Wrapor with a scalloped edge or a plain edge if you prefer.  It can be subtly embellished with Swarovski crystals for added sparkle.  Perfect worn with a vintage style gown trimmed with lace or with lace detail.

Chantilly Style Lace

This pale ivory fabric is the most detailed of all of our stock laces and my personal favourite!  It has an all over delicate lace background overlaid with a heavier corded flower detail which adds weight and depth to the fabric.  The beautiful fabric would transform an elegant dress and would complement gowns trimmed with lace. This style would look equally beautiful with a vintage style dress or a more contemporary style. It can be made up in the orginal shrug style or the bolero version, with or without the scalloped edge overlay.

     Lacy Plush Fabric

 This is a lovely unusual vintage inspired fabric has a lace background with a plush textured soft pile finish.  The shrug or bolero is subtly finished with clear sequins which are almost invisible until they catch the light.  This is a very versatile fabric for those looking for something a little different.  The designs shown are lined in organza, for a semi sheer look, but it would look equally as impressive lined in satin or fleece for a winter wedding.

Champagne Corded Lace

An all over lace style with an ivory background and a subtle champagne coloured cording that give the lace shrug a vintage feel.  It can be made with or without a scalloped edge, in the shrug or bolero style,  it would look fabulous with a warmer or a champagne coloured gown. Swarovski crystals can be added to the lace pattern.

This style is extremely versatile as most of our ivory fabrics can be used, we then finish it with a delicate scalloped lace edging.  Choose from the sheer fabrics- tulle, chiffon or organza, the edging can also be added to most of the other fabrics including those with an overlay, so it can be tailor made to match your gown.  This style is perfect if you would like a touch of lace rather than the full on lace.  Designed to compliment lacy gowns, the lace edging is so subtle it won’t clash with the lace on your dress.  The style looks really special when embellished with Swarovski crystals just along the lace edging.

Well…I needed some beautiful dresses to do my designs justice, so I contacted my friend the lovely Debbie from Glamour Bridal, in Bolton, who kindly opened her shop especially for myself and Tina to choose from her gorgeous collection, I think Tina quite enjoyed playing dressing up, she always has done! We narrowed it down to six of Debbie’s gorgeous gowns and Debbie arranged for me to pick them up from a bridal Fayre the day before the shoot.

Jenny was brilliant, she organised the whole thing from beginning to end, I sent her photos of the dresses and she created inspiration boards with different poses, hairs styles and make-up looks. Jenny contacted Laura Myers for her hair and make up skills and also arranged the venue, we chose the wonderful West Tower in Ormskirk, I had never been, but I trusted Jenny she knew the venue well and it turned out to be just perfect.

My gorgeous niece Tina always models for me, so I am very lucky to have her in the family.  I also wanted a dark haired model as a contrast and the beautiful Natalie fit the bill perfectly.

We had a lot to get through in one day, over forty designs in total, but Keith and Jenny were so relaxed and a joy to work with. We got married on 22nd October 2011 at 1.30pm at the Holiday Inn East, Newport Pagnell.  We chose this hotel following attending a wedding there several years before, we had been so impressed with the venue and the pleasant staff that when we came to have a look for ourselves we were convinced it was a great venue for us. The front of the hotel is also stunning, the Georgian building provided a great backdrop to our pictures.

My wedding dress was Dion by Maggie Sottero, which was a stunning dress draped in satin with gorgeous overlay on front and sides with a lot of beading detail, it also had stunning detail on the back where it was corseted.

I had my Wrapor made to match my dress, I had seen Wrapor being raved about on the wedding forums so I looked it up for myself and I knew that it was what I was looking for. I needed something that would be perfect for my October wedding but not detract from my stunning dress.I went with the chiffon shrug with Swarovski crystals scattered on top.

When it arrived, it matched my dress totally which I was so pleased with, I was also very impressed with the service from Kay, when I needed the Wrapor let out a little she was more than happy for me to send it back to be let our a little, and in the end it fitted me perfectly and I was so happy with it on my wedding day. It made me feel extra special and gave me that added confidence.

I also wore a tiara and earrings by glitzy secrets, both of which added a little sparkly to my outfit, and tied in well with the gorgeous crystals on my Wrapor.  The wedding colours were pale pink, chocolate brown and ivory.  I wanted to tie the pink and chocolate in as much as I could as I felt that these two colours look so lovely together.

I put the bridesmaids in lovely halterneck chocolate dresses and they had pink flowers in their hair. I also used pink & chocolate for the chair cover sashes which helped to full the theme together.

The flowers came from Silk Blooms who I found on line, and after seeing their great reviews, and once I talked to them about what I was looking for I knew I had made the right choice.

Mara from silk blooms worked with me to make exactly what I was looking for and they turned out perfectly. The bridesmaids carried all pink and I had pink and ivory roses, which where then mimicked in the ceremony table flowers. These looked so vibrant in the pictures and even better I can now keep my bridal bouquet forever.

The groom wore chocolate and ivory vest/cravat along with the best man, and the bride’s grandfather, and then the ushers wore baby pink with their suits.

The ceremony room and the pillars restaurant are both gorgeous light rooms, and in the pale cream colours that make adding your personal colour scheme very easy

For the reception room the chair covers where alternated between the tables, I wanted the room to sparkle and glisten so went with candelabras for the tables and we had the pillars decorated with organza and lights. Which with the sun shining so brightly really made the room look amazing.

I assembled the wedding favours myself, the mini chocolate bars came from Green and Blacks, they were then wrapped in chocolate brown ribbon, and the home made name tags were then attached with a small silver rose to each favour.

I also made the table numbers & the menus which sat on the tables, as well as taking on the task of setting up the candy bar the morning of the wedding.

The ‘just married’ sign, I had this sign made originally to be used for us to pose with for the picture for out Thank-you cards, but our photographer was great and she slipped it into a few more pictures which came out fabulously.

Our wedding photographer was ‘Lisa Reeves Photography’ who is based in Bedfordshire, she provided an excellent service on the wedding day, and it was truly like having one of my friends taking our wedding pictures.
